FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR CLASS? We ask that you be pottied, well-rested and fueled by eating a good meal the night before an AM class. Generally, we recommend eating something 90-minutes before working out, but realize that it's not always possible for our early-risers. While not essential, we also recommend bringing a water bottle, yoga mat, long t-shirt and supportive athletic shoes.
(*Optional item: workout gloves)

2. WHICH CLASS IS BEST FOR ME? People of all fitness levels can attend any and ALL of our classes. Our AM classes are generally more vigorous but two trainers will be there allowing flexibility in how the group works. While our PM class is designed for those who are deconditioned and/or looking to lose weight, ANYONE can attend. Our workouts will challenge everyone from the novice to the highly fit.

3. WHAT WILL WE BE DOING? Having fun! We'll get you to your fitness goals progressively with fun calisthenics, yoga and tai chi techniques, soccer and football drills, tug-of-war and more. It's a challenging and enjoyable way to exercise and the hour will go by quickly.

4. IS THIS AN AEROBICS CLASS? Not exactly. We definitely will get your heart pumping at aerobic levels but there's much more to what we do. Our approach is based on functional fitness principals and we take a "total body" approach in our programming. You will get aerobically fit, but you will also improving your balance, flexibility, strength and endurance.

5. ARE BATHROOMS AVAILABLE? Yes! No worries there!

6. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME? Your body will make that determination for you. Generally, those working themselves back into fitness should come 2 times-week to allow for adequate recovery between classes. The more fit you become the more often you can and should come. Fitter individuals come 3-4 times-week.

7. DO YOU OFFER PERSONAL TRAINING? Yes. Everyone at Outdoor Odyssey of Jacksonville is a nationally certified personal trainer.

8. SHOULD I WORK WITH A PERSONAL TRAINER? It depends. Some clients, for whatever reason, don't feel quite ready for the group setting and opt for personal training. Others are involved in more specified training (races, triathlons & other competitions, weddings, etc.) and want an individualized approach for reaching their fitness goals. Still other simply want and need the accountability and support that the one-on-one setting can provide. Ultimately, we feel that everyone can benefit from personal training at some point in time.

9. WHERE IS BIGHAM KNOLL? We're located HERE!

10. DO YOU OFFER OTHER SERVICES? Absolutey. We offer home gym consultation services as well. There are great benefits to having a dedicated, functional workout space at home. We can help you equip your gym with the right equipment for your particular level of fitness and/or goals. We also can help you better utilize your existing equipment and/or space to make for a better home fitness environment.
